Project ‘S1 GTi Turbo’

This great Citroën CX 25 GTi Turbo from 1985 -which spent the first 20+ years of its life in Spain- needed all new LHM brake and suspension lines, a new clutch and some other mechanical work and optical parts. Furthermore the owner wanted a bespoke leather interior and a killer sound system. The mechanical work and the refurbishing of the door panels was done by CXM du NORD, the leather interior by Cools bekledingen BV and the sound system by MobileCarSolutions.

Beneath you see a large part of all the work that’s gone into this très belle voiture.

Removing the engine…

Cleaning up the engine bay…

Some minor welding to the battery box…

and the underside of the left quarter panel and wheel well…

Renewing most LHM brake and suspension lines…

Changing the clutch, all bearings and seals, followed by reassembling and refitting the engine in the car…

Straightening the very bend door panels / door cards, then reinforcing the back with polyester to prevent them from bending again and getting them ready for upholstering with thick leather. Some special techniques are needed to get the wanted result…

The Morel Car Hifi speakers are installed in the door panels and A-post (no picture), the doors are sound deadened and then the interior is wrapped in acres of black leather with beautiful French seams…

Replacing the lower motor mount…

Replacing a faded mirror and other plastic parts with new ones…

Fitting extra rubber profiles on the doors to reduce wind noise…

After installing the alarm and audio, there was no room left for the double horn and compressor. So a simple horn is fitted above the battery.
Also the windshield wiper motor was replaced by a faster one including new seal and new plastic nut.
And as the cherry on the cake the two front wheels were fitted with new Michelin TRX 210/55VR390’s…

Bon voyage !
