Project ‘Super’

This 1976 CX 2000 Super -nicknamed ‘Super’- overall was not in too bad of shape but needed a lot of cosmetic work. After replacing one quarterpanel and a door and some partial welding she only needed  a complete respray and a new interior.

Stripdown and look what we have to work with…

Old damage beneath the paint on the left rear quarter panel leaves no other choice than to completely replace with a new panel. Than the left rear door also seems to have been deformed and gets replaced. Furthermore a few tiny rust spots beneath the head lights and left front quarter panel, and the drivers outside rocker panel was damaged by getting in and out. All in all not bad for an almost 40 year old French car…

At the paintshop getting all shiny and new again, even though we needed to go back two times for missed spots. The repositioning of the doors is a painstaking endeavour but the result in the end is ‘Super’…

Rebuilding with regalvanized nuts, bolts and other parts, new parts wherever necessary and sound deadening material in the doors…

The 14″ steel Michelin wheels get sandblasted and get a perfect respray in the original spec color and quallity (acrylic, not waterbased!)…

Getting the car appraised. Was it worth all the work? Yes it was!
